New Tulsa Voter Coalition Partners with Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association and Tulsa Council of PTAs to Host Tulsa Public School Board Candidate Forums

TULSA, OK – March 20, 2024 – Today, the Tulsa Voter Coalition, a collaborative effort comprised of esteemed, local civic engagement organizations, including The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa, Coalition for the American Dream, Rock the Native Vote, Tulsa Press Club, Woody Guthrie Center, Leadership Tulsa, Terence Crutcher Foundation, TYPROS 918 Vote, and Together OK, announces its official launch. This non-partisan coalition is dedicated to fostering civic engagement and voter empowerment within the Tulsa community by providing joint programming and events to ensure citizens are registered, informed, and empowered to vote on election day.

“We’re incredibly excited about the formation of this new coalition, particularly during such a crucial election year for our community,” says Andrea Pemberton, Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa and chair of the Tulsa Voter Coalition. “While many of our organizations have collaborated in the past on individual events or initiatives, the Tulsa Voter Coalition signifies a new level of commitment to sustained partnership and collective impact. Together, we’re dedicated to cultivating a more engaged electorate and empowering every voter in Tulsa.”

The Tulsa Voter Coalition is hosting its first events in partnership with the Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association (TCTA) and the Tulsa Council of PTAs. Scheduled for March 25, 2024, for District 2, and March 26, 2024, for District 5, the Tulsa Public School Board Candidate Forums provide a platform for candidates vying for positions on the Tulsa Public School Board to engage directly with the community.

The forum will be moderated to ensure fairness and provide an opportunity for each candidate to address important topics. Prepared questions will be asked, covering a range of issues pertinent to Tulsa Public Schools. Additionally, there will be a Q&A session, allowing audience members to pose questions directly to the candidates.

All members of the community who have a stake in the future of our public schools are encouraged to attend this important event.
