Restudy on the LWVMT Position on Public Trusts
The Re-Study
The Program Committee submitted a recommendation to membership at the June 2019 Annual Meeting
to conduct a re-study of the LWVMT’s position on Public Trusts. The membership voted in favor of the
recommendation.
Rationale for Study
Roughly 20 entities exist within the City of Tulsa and Tulsa County that are defined as public trusts, i.e.,
authorities / boards which maintain oversight of municipal projects and the finances that support these
projects. Upon review, some duplication of interests among the various trust entities exist, criteria for
appointment to a board are unclear in many instances, and transparency of activities are unclear.
The recommendation to update the LWVMT position on public trusts is deemed timely and appropriate.
