Call to Action: Oklahoma & the Equal Rights Amendment

Shailaja Marion Announcement

Join the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa as the Tulsa City Council discusses and votes on a Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) Resolution. Currently 37 states have ratified the ERA and only one more is needed to include this amendment in the U.S. Constitution.

We encourage supporters to wear white, the historical color of choice for women’s rights, to this meeting.

Date: Wed., March 27, 2019
Times: 2:30 p.m. at the Public Works Committee and 5:00 p.m. at the City Council regular meeting
Location: One Technology Center, 175 E. 2nd Street

Comments may be made at the 5 p.m. meeting for one hour with 30 minutes for the resolution and 30 minutes against the resolution. To speak, you must arrive before 5 pm. and sign up.

Norman City Council has already ratified this resolution and our goal is to have other municipalities in Oklahoma pass this resolution, which encourages the Oklahoma legislature to vote to ratify the ERA and join the 37 other states that have already ratified it. It takes 38 states ratifying an amendment before it becomes an amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Please contact the LWVMT if you wish to speak in favor of this resolution and RSVP here to let us know you will be showing up in support!
