On Financial Support of the League

Lynn Staggs Blog Post

I recently watched “Iron Jawed Angels”, a historical film released in 2004, which served as a strong reminder to me that women literally risked their lives to earn the right to vote.  Iron Jawed Angels was the nickname the press at that time gave women activists working to get the right to vote.

Next year marks 100 years of women earning that right. (Though it wasn’t until the 1960s that the federal government addressed the right to vote for racial minorities.) The League of Women Voters was established in conjunction with that right.

Today, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa comprises women and men of all ages and backgrounds and continues the work of defending voting rights, of educating voters with non-partisan information, and of helping voters claim their voice in the democratic process.

As you consider your end-of-the-year donations, please consider supporting the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa and its mission. Your charitable gift to the League, a 501(c)(3) organization, is tax-deductible (Tax ID Number: 73-6226496) to the extent permitted by law.
