LWVMT 101

The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The LWVMT is set up with a Board of Trustees that meet monthly, as well as a number of committees that work to get things done. These committees include:

Voter Engagement Committee – front and center providing voter registration for numerous events/business, supporting Naturalization Ceremonies here in Tulsa County, training individuals to register voters, distributing bi-yearly printed voter guides, and other general voter outreach.

Education & Action Committee (formerly Program Committee) – connects members to specific topics that impact our state, city, education, and general welfare of our citizens. Candidate forums, informational forums, and luncheons featuring key speakers are only a part of the work they oversee.

Fund Development Committee – responsible for various aspects of raising funds for the league including, but not limited to, special events, grant requests, individual and corporate sponsorships, donations requests, etc. (This committee leads our annual fundraiser, Madam President, and we encourage individuals to help on the event committee for it!)

Membership Services Committee – helps make the membership experience for the League the best it can be by assisting in programs designed to help recruit, retain, and engage our membership.
