The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa will be holding a Hot Topic Lunch on September 20 in a private room at Baxter’s Interurban Grill. The topic of the luncheon will be State Question 779. In voting on this issue, voters will choose whether to implement a one percent sales tax to fund teacher pay raises and other educational causes. Dr. Phyllis Hudecki, formerly Oklahoma’s Secretary of Education, will speak in favor of the question; Mayor Dewey Bartlett who is also on the Board of the Oklahoma Municipal League will speak against.
The speakers will begin shortly after 12:00. Those attending are encouraged to arrive in time to order food before the event begins.
