Due to COVID-19 and the need for social distancing to reduce community spread, this event has been postponed until Fall 2020. More details once we get them.
The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) annual Newsmakers luncheon will celebrate 100 Years of Voting Women with living history appearances from Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Sharon King Davis), Susan B. Anthony (Penny Painter) and Ida B. Wells (Rebecca Marks Jimerson).
The 2020 Newsmakers are:
Aliye Shimi, executive director, Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, which promotes religious undertanding, cooperation, respect and freedom.
Lisa Shotts, founder/executive director, Gaining Ground, which works to prevent summer reading loss for students living in economically disadvantaged areas by providing weekly access to a large volume of books, providing high interest and student selected books, increasing parental involvement and engaging students in reading activities throughout the summer months.
Kimberly TeeHee, delegate-designate to the U.S. House of Representatives from the Cherokee Nation, is an advocate on Native American issues.
Saidie Lifetime Achievement honoree is Joy Harjo, United States Poet Laureate.
