A Message From the New LWVOK President

Heather News

Moving can be both exciting and difficult. I have left the Tulsa League as its administrative director to become the president of the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, and it’s time to say goodbye and hello.SheilaSwearingen_casual headshot_6-2013

First, I want to make sure that all the volunteers and members of the Tulsa League of Women Voters know how much I have appreciated the support, advice, camaraderie and can-do spirit of this League.  I look forward to sharing that spirit with other Leagues around the state. The board of directors and volunteers I worked with have set a high bar for what can be done by a small group of committed individuals.

The Tulsa League is so lucky to have Emily Davis as its new administrative director. She has my enthusiastic support, and I hope that all members will have a chance to meet her very soon. She is already making great things happen.

As the “green horn” president of the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, I am going to need that same support, advice, camaraderie and reminders from all Tulsa League members. Your thoughts are vital and I hope you will let me know what the state League can best do to support both our local League and you, as a member.

You can send e-mail to me at [email protected] and let me know what you’d like to see the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma taking on over the next couple of years.

I am convinced that we can do a lot when we work together at all levels of League. Please do keep in touch.

Sincere thanks,
Sheila Swearingen
