Smart Conversations at the Synagogue

Smart Conversations 2013 features dynamic and visionary thinkers, newsmakers, and entertainers in live conversation via satellite from Manhattan. Each season brings some of the brightest and most interesting people in America to audiences in Tulsa.

The fall program begins on Tuesday, October 1, with Malcolm Gladwell, social science writer for The New Yorker, speaking on “When Underdogs Break the Rules.” Later in the month, on October 23, Presidential Press Secretaries Robert Gibbs and Ari Fleischer will team up for “Full Court Press: Inside the Bush and Obama White Houses.”

The series continues on November 18 with Jeb Bush on “The Immigration Wars: An American Solution. The season concludes on December 5 with a spiritual exchange between Karen Armstrong and Thomas Cahill on “Compassion.”

All four broadcasts will be beamed to Congregation B’nai Emunah at Peoria and Seventeenth. Starting time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets for single lectures cost $10, or $30 for the series. Students are admitted free of charge. Coffee, treats, and conversation precede and follow each performance. During the live events, audience members here in Tulsa will have the chance to submit questions to the speakers via email. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for open seating and each program begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
